100 Challenges

One of the only ‘man made’ structures visible from space, this almost 9.000 km long wall stretching from  from Shanhaiguan in the east, to Lop Lake in the west roughly trailing China’s historical borders is surely something worth seeing.

China, one of the most stable countries in the world in regards to territorial integrity, started building some sections of this wall as early as 7 BC to both protect its national sovereignty but also as a means to impose border and immigration/emigration controls as well as impose duties and taxes on goods transported on the silk route.
